There are so many diseases and disorders today, and they are discussed all of the time. What are discussed? The negative aspects of these diseases and disorders are pushed like there is no tomorrow. It's amazing that we don't all just think that we are one big disorder or disease. How do we conquer all of the negativity about health being thrown at us? Find solutions and take our health seriously enough to take preventative measures that will give us more of an edge against these diseases and disorders (or at the very least, help us to over come them more easily) Here's some good news First off, not all symptoms are a disease or disorder. You may just need rest, sleep, more water, better vitamins, or some time in nature. The internet has a way of making it seem like every little human ache or pain is a major disease. If it's subtle pain, try to stretch. If it's fatigue, try exercise or rest. If it's muscle cramps or stomach ache, try drinking more water. You get the point. Start at the beginning, back to your roots. Secondly, if your symptoms become worse, do see a doctor. Don't try to evaluate your health by self diagnosing on the internet. It's not healthy (mostly psychologically) and may not be addressing something that needs your doctor's attention. Here are some things for some neurological disorders and diseases that may be helpful for your body and your mind. They may make the situation much better, or may help you deal with it better. Either way is a win. As you may know, I have had late-stage Lyme disease, which is a neurological disease that is very hard to diagnose and treat. Therefore, I will start with something that is very great therapy for those with this or other neurological conditions. Yoga is medicine. It is medicine for the body and medicine for the brain. Believe me when I say the two (body and mind) are strongly connected. For those with a neurological disease like mine (Lyme), yoga will help you get out of bed and move back into life, which is a challenge when you have been down for a long while. It lubricates your joints and muscles, allowing the simple movements to be less painful, and helping your body to have less pain. Also for those with chronic conditions, this will help you to move through anxiety and depression. Your mind is strong and needs to have a focus on something that can propel you forward instead of being stagnant. Yoga is a fabulous method for this. Do you have to be flexible? No. Not at all. Start with a beginning class and move your way towards more challenging classes. Do you need to go to a yoga studio or fitness club? No. Start in the comfort of your own home. Use YouTube. It's a fabulous place to try things for the first time, or for 25 years. I have never once paid for a yoga class and have been doing yoga for over 25 years. In the beginning, yes, I paid for VHS tapes and then DVDs. But now I only use YouTube. "The pratice of yoga and meditation demonstrates statistically encouraging physiological and psychological improvements in the aforementioned neurological disorders. However, there were certain flaws and inadequacies in the study designs employed to evaluate the same. A critical analysis of these studies is presented." NCBI Medical Journal Another part of treating neurological disorders is proper nutrition. Often times this includes incorporating vitamin supplements such as, Vitamin D. Many chronically ill need huge amounts of Vitamin D because they are so deficient. With chronic illness, eating habits change and may often leave a person without enough appetite to incorporate all of the food groups. In this case, a strong multivitamin may be needed, along with other vitamins that their physician may recommend.. While I have been going through my recovery, I have often used blended vegetables and fruits, along with vitamin/protein powder to get enough nutrition to move me forward in a positive direction. The fruit adds the sweetness and I can sip on the smoothie, especially when I don't have enough energy to chew up a full meal. Cognitive therapy is another very strong treatment to go along with the others above. "a type of psychotherapy in which negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns or treat mood disorders such as depression." All-in-all, there are many things we can do to improve our situations when dealing with the challenge of disease and disorder. Science has come a long way, but it is up to us to take the initiative. Take on your own health as if you want to live. That is probably the strongest statement I can say about it.
Another treatment for any ailment...humor. Find a reason to smile. Find a reason to laugh. There are so many diseases and disorders today, and they are discussed all of the time. What are discussed? Where did the tradition begin?
Was there a fourth Wise Man who brought a toothbrush and toothpaste? This may be a strange question, but who will you be by January 1st?
Yes, I am asking the opposite question. The question that usually gets phrased, 'What New Year's resolutions are you making to start January 1st?'. Cyber Monday seems to be everywhere today. This is the time of year that spending can get out of control. To help you reign it in, I have compiled a list of stores where you can save a little more, or at least get a bit of your money back.
This time of year, even though we all would love to hibernate, stresses of the holidays (all of the parties and gatherings, shopping, budget constraints, etc.) often cause us to experience a lack of sleep.
How much sleep is enough and what happens when you have lack? Are you a black Friday shopper?
Do you prefer to order from home, or go to the store? Here are some helpful BLACK FRIDAY portals to make the magic happen. I am sure you have heard that Feng Shui can provide a calming, wealth producing, productive environment. But how? How do you do that?
Did you know that there are apps out there, that when you scan your receipts, you get rewards, even money. Yes Sir!
Let me fill you in on a few of these apps. This is seriously icing on the cake. |
