Decorating your home for the various holidays can sometimes be overwhelming. So much to do, so little time. What do I put up? When do I put it up? Where do I put it up? First off, if you have a lot of decorations for any of the holidays, do not use them all. It's great to be festive, but it's best not to decorate by throwing up all of your decorations, like a hoarder with their stacks on display. Select certain items and carefully place them to decorate. Let's talk Halloween. What is your theme? That is something that you should figure out ahead of time. For example, for Halloween, select the following...
Amazing items to use are holiday pillow covers. That way, you can afford to decorate your living room, family room, and bedroom with ease, while sticking to your theme and having things look amazing year after year. Below, I have the "Trick OR Treat" pillow cover and "Boo" pillow cover from Ivy & Sage Market. I use a couple of gray pillows that are slightly larger, some gourds from my garden, some accents from the Dollar Store and more decor that I already had on hand. I picked these pillow covers from Ivy & Sage Market. Click on the picture for more cute designs. Another great decor option is using a throw blanket with one of these cute pillow covers (and believe me, these are so soft and well made). This is a simple decorating idea that is easy to do and fantastic year after year. Combining black and orange is always a winning combination for Halloween. Make use of your gourds and pumpkins from your garden or local grocery chain. Use black candle sticks and black candles. Use a black striped pillow cover with a trick or treat pillow cover. Use an orange throw blanket. Voila. One room complete. Aren't these pillow covers so adorable?! Another idea is going with the witch theme and using purple, black and touches of orange. In the picture below, I have an "eek" pillow cover from Ivy & Sage Market, and an "I'll put a spell on you" pillow cover, also from Ivy & Sage Market. There is also a simple Trick or Treat sign, black flowers, tall candle sticks and witch hats that are purple. Notice the simplicity? The quality of these pillow covers means that you'll be able to use them year after year. In this next example, the mantle is decorated. To tie the rest of the room, I use the "spooky" pillow cover from Ivy & Sage Market, along with an orange striped pillow cover and "Hocus Pocus" pillow cover from Ivy & Sage Market. You will not be disappointed with these pillow covers! They are so soft! So many ideas! I love being able to get creative this time of year! Isn't this so much fun!?!
Note: While Ivy & Sage Market is the sponsor of this post, the opinions and ideas are my own. The quality of these products is impeccable and that is an absolute truth.
